Finding Creative Inspiration

At My Little Art Studio, we believe creativity isn’t reserved for artists or special occasions. It lives in your morning coffee, the colours of a sunrise, or the way music makes you feel on a quiet afternoon. Inspiration is all around us and sometimes we just need to slow down enough to notice it.
In this blog, we're sharing simple ways to reconnect with your creative side and invite more inspiration into your daily life.
Start with Curiosity
You don’t need a big idea to begin creating. Often, the act of picking up a brush, shaping clay, or doodling on a notepad is all it takes to spark something. Let go of expectations and start with curiosity. What colours feel good today? What patterns or shapes catch your eye?
Creative inspiration often comes after you start, not before.
Step Away from the Screen
It’s easy to fall into a scroll spiral when we’re searching for ideas. But sometimes the most refreshing inspiration comes from stepping away. Take a walk, sit in nature, visit a local market, or flip through a favourite book or magazine. Changing your environment, even briefly, can unlock a flood of new ideas.
Play Without Pressure
Not every piece needs to be perfect. In fact, perfection often gets in the way of creativity. Give yourself permission to play. Use colours that make you feel good. Try a new medium, even if it feels unfamiliar. Let the process be the reward.
Remember: the goal isn’t always to create a masterpiece, it’s simply to enjoy the moment.
Create a Ritual
Inspiration doesn’t always strike randomly. Often, it shows up when we create the right environment for it. Light a candle, put on your favourite playlist, and set aside a regular time to make something... anything. You’ll start to associate that space and time with creative energy.
This is exactly why we design our workshops to be calm, inspiring, and easy to follow. They’re a space to show up as you are, tune out the noise, and let creativity come naturally.
Surround Yourself with Inspiration
Pin beautiful things on your wall. Collect textures, colours, and quotes that move you. Visit galleries. Chat with other creatives. Follow accounts that uplift and inspire you. Fill your world with things that make you want to create more.
And if you need a fresh dose of inspiration, our workshops are always here to welcome you in.
Creativity is for everyone.
It doesn’t matter if you haven’t painted in years or you’re just starting to explore your artistic side. What matters is that you’re open to the experience. When you show up with a curious mind, inspiration has a way of finding you.
We hope this blog encourages you to pick up a brush, try a new workshop, or simply notice the beauty in your everyday. We’d love to hear where you find your creative spark. Let us know on Instagram or drop by one of our upcoming sessions.
Until then, keep creating!
